BARWA ADDAX TEAM HAVE HIGH HOPES IN SILVERSTONE.

JOHNNY CECOTTO AND JOSEF KRAL LOOKING TO BREAK THEIR RUN OF BAD LUCK.

The British Grand Prix gets under way this weekend at the legendary Silverstone circuit, (5,891 metres). We have reached the halfway stage of the season in the GP2 Series and Barwa Addax Team, as well as both drivers Johnny Cecotto and Josef Král, are really hoping for a good result this weekend to end the string of bad luck that has haunted them since the start of the season.

Despite the great win Johnny Cecotto and Barwa Addax Team had, at what is probably the most mediatic event of the of the season, at the street circuit of Monte Carlo, they are not satisfied with this result and are looking to show their true strength between now and the end of the season. If we look back at the season so far Josef Král, has been forced to abandon various races on Saturday, in incidents where he has been the unlucky victim. He has not been able to get the results he probably deserves.

One of the important changes for this weekend’s Grand Prix will be the new norm which will allow each driver to have use of 5 new sets of tyres, whereas up till now the limit had been 4 new sets. From having 3 sets of hard tyres and one soft, they will now have 3 hard and 2 softer composites. This means the teams will now be able to use one of the softs in free practice without having to save it for qualifying. This new ruling will surely change a lot of the strategic thinking that was carried out in the past and this increases the number of combinations of tyre strategy in both races, including the possibility of changing tyres for the second shorter race which was not permitted until now. The idea behind these changes is so that teams and drivers in the GP2 class are better prepared for the kind of racing that is now common in the Formula 1 championship.

The weekend will start with the free practice session on Friday the 6th at 11.55, followed by the qualifications at 16.00. The first race will take place on Saturday and will begin at 14.40 and will be raced over twenty nine laps of the Silverstone circuit, covering a distance of 170.705 Kilometres. Sunday’s race will cover 123.577 kilometres, 21 laps, and will start at 09.30. Please note that all the times are British local time.

Johnny Cecotto, official Barwa Addax Team driver: “Silverstone is a track with a lot of tradition and with a great layout. I have always been quick at this track and can't wait to start the weekend”.

Josef Kràl, official Barwa Addax team driver: “As the weather forecast looks like it is gonna rain I think it will be interesting race. Silverstone is always special race because of the English fans and atmosphere which they do. Unfortunately the bad luck is still following us so we have to do maximum this weekend to break it. We have new engine as well with which we had problems before so this will definitely help us”
